Presidential Stuff

I read an email yesterday that contained a speech written by a normal person like you and I. It was a "make believe" speech to be given by President George W. Bush when he quits (not resigns) as president. The jist of the speech was that all of Bush's critics are too ignorant to realize all of the good things that he's accomplished, too spoiled to realize how good they have it, and too stupid to understand that a war on terror can't be won in a few months or a few years.

I'm not stupid - I don't think that Bush is perfect. However, I strongly believe that he has done a fine job with the hand he's been dealt. I also believe, concerning the war, that anyone else placed in his shoes who really cared about America's state and safety would have done many of the same things. Sure, maybe there should have been a better long-term plan, but if you truly consider it with all bias aside, how much can you really plan how a war is going to go?

Another thing I recently heard (I'm not positive it's a 100% accurate but it's interesting nonetheless) is that Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have spent something like $700,000,000 in campaigning - ENOUGH TO COMPLETELY ELIMINATE WORLD HUNGER.

All this has just made me think about how much we really have, as well as how we use what we have. Vanessa and I struggle often with finances, but it doesn't take much looking around to find someone who is in a far worse situation than we are. We are blessed to live in this country - a country where we all think, live, and act like spoiled brats far too often!

May God continue to bless America, even though there's no doubt we don't deserve it! And thank God for our soldiers!

Yeah, got to love those soldiers...speaking of good ol' George W...I have to say as a soldier whose served two tours in Iraq, i think he's done a great job as Pres. I actually sent my vote in for him in 2004 from Tikrit, Iraq. I firmly believe that taking the fight to the terrorist over there keeps the fight mostly away from here on our own soil. All i have to say now, is go Mr. McCain...I'll follow that man to any war....

Good for you that you are doing well, but there are millions in this country that aren’t doing so well. Perhaps you need a reality check. Check out Hugh's list of Bush Scandals (because there are too many scandals to remember. The list is up to 349. About 25 percent of Americans like Bush. He has destroyed the country with the help of Cheney.

First of all, anyone who chooses to post a comment anonymously with out the guts to own up to it might as well not post anything.

My heart goes out to the soldiers who have been injured and the families of those who have died defending this country. Don't think for a second that I don't relate - my brother served in Iraq as well as my best friend twice.

Next, I'd like for you to tell me a presidency that hasn't been surrounded by "scandal" in our lifetime. These scandals that you speak of have just as much to do with every employee of the white house and every politician in D.C. as they do the president.

Also, you say that 25% of Americans like Bush (obviously you claim that percentage is low because of his decisions involving the war). Why don't you check into how many Americans were in support of Bush's decision to go to war, as well as - for those who think it was a bad call - the fact that every one of America's allies agreed in thinking that Iraq was in possession of nuclear bombs.

Finally, I mourn for the list of soldiers lost, but you are very wrong in one regard...George Bush didn't kill those soldiers and their blood is not on his hands! As far as I know, there has not been a draft in this country since Vietnam. Everyone of those soldiers chose to serve. While I don't like it, my brother and others I know also signed up on their own and, thankfully, they have the guts to follow through with what they committed to.

So, again I say, God bless America and it's soldiers! As for all the other idiots who are too spoiled and ignorant to understand how difficult a position the president of the U.S. is, may God bless you too. You'd probably find something to gripe about no matter who the president was!
